Session 1: Shaping Generations—Fetal Programming Effects of Late-Gestation Heat Stress. Heat stress doesn’t just affect dairy cattle during summertime—it can leave lasting effects that ripple across generations. This presentation will showcase how in utero heat stress alters calf development, leading to long-term consequences on growth, health, and future milk production. These generational impacts extend far beyond initial heat exposure, subtly influencing herd performance and farm profitability over time. Understanding the underlying biological mechanisms leading to these phenotypes is crucial for developing strategies that protect animal welfare and the bottom line.

How does a veterinary student with plans to become an equine surgeon end up specializing in livestock reproduction? Each step led to the creation of Dynamic Concept Services, a practice that travels across at least 8 states, providing mobile and haul-in assisted reproductive services. This session explores the practical, regulatory, and logistical challenges of operating a multistate ART practice, with a focus on cattle, cervids, and small ruminants.
