Let me begin by thanking Dr. Mark James for his leadership and guidance this past year as president of our association. I would also like to thank Dr. John Schneller as an the outgoing board member for his service on the board. I would like to welcome and congratulate the newly elected board members: Dr. William Croushore and Dr. Jeremy VanBoening.

I especially thank Charles Looney, PhD, for his efforts in putting together a conference that was second to none in Orlando this past year. Thanks to our membership, the conference was well attended, the venue was beautiful, and the weather was fantastic.

I would also like to thank all of the volunteers who serve and who have served on the AETA’s various committees. It is the work of the committees that is the backbone of the organization.

As I reflect back over the years (which have seemed to pass so quickly), the only constant is change: from sitting on the chairs in the small venue in Portland, Oregon, to the large venue in Orlando, Florida; from the early days of conventional embryo transfer to the impact of in vitro fertilization today; seeing some of my mentors in the industry retire and the great influx of youth into our organization. The members of the past have set great examples for our current and future members.
With that said, it is time to start thinking about this next year. This fall we will be travelling to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, so mark your calendars for September 27-29, 2018. This historic city is a beautiful place to visit, and I am sure the Canadians will put together a top-notch meeting.

Young and old alike, if you are not currently involved, please consider getting involved in the organization that serves and protects your interests. Contact a committee chairperson or any board member to express your interest in serving. There are and always will be challenges that we will face, but with the examples and leadership that have been exhibited in the past, we will be fine.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead this great organization, and look forward to serving as your president in 2018.

Respectfully Submitted,

John Prososki, DVM
2018 AETA President
