The AETA Board of Directors met on October 9th in Reno, just before the annual meeting.

There was a substantial element of “business as usual” at this particular meeting.   The detailed review of the association finances and the activities of each of the committees does take a considerable amount of time.  The good news is that the association finances are in great shape and all the committees are actively performing their functions.

There were also a number of new and relatively new items under discussion.  The Board agreed to continue to support the AABP ET 101 Wet lab.  And the Board agreed to continue the support of the concept of a joint annual meeting with IETS in 2017.  The concept of a voluntary list of ET practices/practitioners that would be willing to be mentors to new practitioners was discussed.  It was suggested that such a list could be on the website (available to members only).  Look for that function sometime in 2014.

The Board continues to work on a strategic plan for the association; this plan would be for the next five years.  At this Board meeting the Board elected to serve as the plan implementation committee and provide primary oversight for the plan going forward.  The Membership Committee, Education Committee, and Certification Committee have been charged with developing strategies to implement the goals outlined in the plan.  These committees will report to the Board at the next meeting.

The Board will meet in February in Madison, at the site of the 2014 annual meeting.  If you have any comments or items that you think need to be addressed by the Board, please feel free to contact any Board member or Jeremy Holzner.
