This is an exciting opportunity for an Embryologist to join our team at The Ohio Heifer Center STgenetics® South Charleston Ohio. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to all aspects of bovine assisted reproduction techniques pertaining to the production of embryos in vitro. Functions include general laboratory QA and QC methods, semen purification/preparation, oocyte and embryo manipulation, culture media handling, cryopreservation by slow-freezing and/or vitrification. Experience and knowledge on basic embryology as well as excellent aseptic cell culture skills are required. We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with positive attitude and able to follow directions. Flexible schedule as well as weekend and holiday rotations are required. Ideal candidates are expected to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate shall be encouraged to support our R&D program. Preference will be given to those individuals with applied mindset in assisted reproduction and at least 2 years of experience in the following areas of interest including oocyte maturation, fertilization, pre-implantation embryo and somatic cell culture, and cryopreservation. Main responsibilities/duties: - Gamete/embryo handling including grading.
- Sperm purification/preparation and in vitro fertilization.
- Preparation of stock solutions for different culture media.
- Inventory of stocks as well as quality control (e.g., pH, osmolality, expiration date).
- Cryopreservation slow-freezing, vitrification is a plus.
- Assisting with data gathering.
- Training and aiding laboratory personnel when needed.
- Helping in the development of new technologies (R&D).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements include bachelor’s degree in science, biology or related and/or 2-3 years of experience. Education or formal training in mammalian embryology is preferred. The ability to work independently while actively participating as a part of a team is essential. Ability to occasionally lifting ~15 KG is required. STgenetics Ohio Heifer Center is seeking a motivated licensed veterinarian for the position of Director of Reproduction. Our current team is composed of 4 full-time reproductive technicians and supported by an on-site IVF lab with 5 full-time employees. The Director of Reproduction shall be responsible for the care and treatment of all animals involved in our IVF and ET programs. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager with the main objective of production of embryos, embryo transfers, and successful calves in our IVF and ET programs. This is a production position, and the candidate should be able to comfortably handle 40+ aspirations per week. AETA certification is preferred. If the candidate is not AETA certified, we will assist them in getting certification. Bi-lingual is also preferred, but not necessary. STgenetics Ohio Heifer Center currently creates and transfers over 5,500 embryos per year. We currently house over 5,000 animals for the genetic creation and research advancement of STgenetics product lines. No travel required. Schedule is Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. Benefit package includes 401k with a match, health, vision, and dental insurance, paid vacation, 4 weeks paid maternity leave, short- and long-term disability. All equipment needed is provided including 3 IBEXX EVO ultrasounds, 3 hydraulic chutes, all OPU equipment, and computers. As a management position, the successful applicant will be responsible for: - Helping lead a team on the cutting edge of advanced reproduction.
- Scheduling of staffing and reproductive programs.
- Donor and recipient management (synchronization protocols, DFR, ultrasonography of ovarian structures).
- Large scale embryo transfer and OPU programs.
- Palpation for pregnancy determination using ultrasonography at all stages in gestation.
- Searching and classification of oocytes (IVF) and embryos (MOET).
- Gathering, compiling, and exploring conclusions from transfer data.
- Record analysis of information gathered through different record keeping systems.
- Ability to collaborate within and outside of the department.
- Assistance, collaboration, and participation with ongoing and future reproductive research projects.

Requirements: - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, with license to practice in the state of Ohio or willingness to acquire licensure in the state of Ohio.
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in bovine reproductive physiology, but willing to train new grads.
- Excellent teamwork, professionalism, and communication skills (written and verbal); English and a second language preferred.
- Ability to learn new computer programs.
